Statewide RACES Test on July 18, 2009 PDF Print E-mail
Please set aside about 45 minutes on Saturday morning -- 8:15-9:00. And we need volunteers for the multiple mode check-ins to the state. Contact KB9RVB at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call 339-4437.

The Summer State Wide R.A.C.E.S. Test will be conducted this Saturday July 18, 2009, at 1300 UTC (9:00 AM local time). Monroe County RACES will conduct its local net -- authorized and requested (as specified in the local plan) by Jim Comerford, Monroe County EMA Coordinator -- on the 146.640 WB9TLH repeater beginning after 8:15 AM in order to handle all business and traffic prior to the State check-in process.

At 8:15, Monroe County RACES will open its net and proceed with a roll-call check-in of all local RACES operators. This will simulate an actual RACES call-up by EMA, since RACES nets, by regulation, are closed to all but sworn RACES volunteers.

Immediately following the RACES check-ins, net control will announce that the RACES net has been completed and will open a Monroe County ARES net and begin accepting check-ins from all other volunteer operators. This is to simulate the potential transition to and from RACES and ARES operations which is the norm in Monroe County. Please advise your friends and fellow hams that their check-in is welcome and appreciated by the Monroe County ARES-RACES Group.

Monroe County RACES will require volunteers for the following State check-in assignments. Specific instructions for the State frequency check-ins are itemized in the DHS instructions following this message:

       1. Net Control (usually KB9UVW)
       2. Alternate Net Control (KB9RVB)
       3. State Check-in Assignments RACES officers will handle W9WIN (440) check-in. Need volunteers for all other modes:
